Silly Hobby

So after finishing my spool of thread I recon I have quilted at least 1.5 km. and stitched about 3 times as much as I have quilted which is a ridiculous 4.5 km or shown in bridges.

The amount quilted
The amount sewn

And this has taken me from 1st January 2009 until now say the end of March 2012 which is 39 months.

I would love to add a list of all the computer games my husband has played in the same time.:)

As I said , what a silly hobby.

Happy Autumn equinox

So now we are into Autumn 2012 and all is well with the world. I got a contract to work for another year so I suppose yay is in the order of the day. So no need to only use up my stash, but, my gathering of fabric to use when I no longer work can continue.

I have finished off my initial lines on the Irish chain as sell as sewing along the borders lines. Yesterday was a public holiday so I tacked the binding it place. My fingers are feeling quite ragedy with all the hand stitching that I have been doing. The only finger that is not sore is the one that I wear a thimble on, go figure. but the one I have under the quilt to make sure that the needle has actually gone through all the layers is feeling quite worn out as is the thumb and finger that holds the needle for the rocking through the fabric. What I need to do now is work out what I am going to put into each of the openings.I am quickly getting to the end of my YLI thread and this will be  a big deal for me when I have done this as it means that I have hand stitched a mile of quilting.

I have made progress with my Dear Jane preparations. I have bought a bolt of fabric as my backing colour, gone through my stash as selected colours that I will be using and used a spreadsheet to mock up the colours that I want. As a celebration of getting a contract, my dear husband bought me the Dear Jane software, it cost $49 and $40 for shipping. Oh yay for living so far from civilisation!

So as the temperatures drop to 12 (12 degree Celsius = 53.6 degree Fahrenheit) in the mornings moving to 25 (77) the weather is feeling glorious.

Have a good one.

Friday on my mind

Well here we are at yet another Friday...yay yay yay.

I have finished stitching my irish chain top together and have been doing some number crunching for the amount of quilt stitching that I have to look forward to.

I need to stitch 11384cm or 113 metres or 124 yards straight stitching before I can start with the cute pictures in the 24 diamonds and the border that is going to have a plait thing on it.
